I made a camisole by deconstructing a Meisen kimono. The original kimono was in a beautiful condition, without stains or damage. (Photos 13, 14, 15) Since Meisen can fade when washed with water, after unraveling the kimono, I only disinfected it with a high-temperature iron. The regular pattern drawn in crimson on a beige background is beautiful. The large diamond shapes create a unique design. Perhaps thanks to the yellow accents in the center of the pattern, the design doesn't feel old. The luster unique to Meisen is also lovely. To prevent the overall shape from appearing bulky, I used thin elastic only in the back yoke to create a neat silhouette. Silk kimonos are very precious. It's a lot of work to unravel a kimono, but it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the feel of Japanese fabric in everyday life. It's also a good point that you can enjoy the unique colors and combinations of Japan. I enjoy making Western clothes as a hobby, specializing in straight stitching. I upcycle old kimonos and furoshiki (wrapping cloths) such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon. Since it's handmade by an amateur, there may be thread holes, remaining threads, small scratches, and fold lines that cannot be removed by ironing.
