"Ginza Fukko" by Mantaro Kubota Mantaro Kubota Novelist, playwright, director, haiku poet. He gained recognition while attending Keio University with his novel "Asagao," published in "Mita Bungaku." Many of his works focus on the everyday lives of people living in the downtown areas of Tokyo, and are described as emotional realism. As a playwright, he provided scripts for works by Kyoka Izumi, Kafu Nagai, and Ichiyo Higuchi. In Kabuki, he adapted and directed "Ginza Fukko" for the Kikugoro troupe, and directed a wide range of works from Chikamatsu and Gohei to new Kabuki and his own "Tale of Genji." He was active in various fields including directing for Shingeki, Shinpa, and Kabuki. In 1937, he participated in the founding of the Bungakuza theater company, and after the war, he presided over the haiku magazine "Shunto."
