In a time when recent animation discussions lean towards the otaku historical view, experimental animation and puppet animation are not treated equally with TV animation and OVAs, and interest in foreign animation is also limited. Currently, it seems that the roles these elements played in the development of Japanese animation are being overlooked. However, given the current exposure of animation, while it's not impossible to consider these on an equal footing, it's quite a task, and it's difficult to discuss animation from the orthodox historical view, pushing aside the otaku historical view.
