About FAT LAVA ➖ West German art pottery refers to the period from 1949 to 1990. Among them, FAT LAVA was actively manufactured in West Germany from the 1950s to the 1970s, and at its peak, over 100 pottery companies were producing it. Production began to slow down in the early 1970s, while in the 1980s, art pottery with a rich variety of designs was produced. Mainly decorative items such as vases and pitchers, bowls, etc., rather than tableware sets, they have basic shapes but are designed with a variety of glazes to create different expressions, and the bodies are decorated with molding patterns and cut-in decorations. The name FAT LAVA comes from LAVA, which means lava. Using thick, flowing glazes, it has a rough, lava-like texture, and each piece has a unique finish and a striking, colorful color scheme that is attractive.
