The hip pockets have hidden bar tacks and rivets. The belt loops are sewn into the waistband, the laurel leaf buttons go through the front fly, and the sides have red selvedge. Authentic SUGARHILL original denim fabric from Nippon Menpu, based in Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture (14.5oz selvedge denim). It is raw denim and has not been washed at all. During World War II, in the United States, due to a shortage of materials and funds, it was recommended to use the same buttons as military clothing (and not use original brand buttons). The background is that jeans brands used the buttons used in military uniforms and military wear. The laurel leaf buttons were used in the jeans manufactured at that time. What is a Cinch Back? In the 1910s, the concept of belt loops did not yet exist, and suspenders were the mainstream. It is a part that symbolizes the workwear era, where the waist was adjusted with suspenders + cinch back.
