Shunji Iwai Film Overview Yuichi Hasumi, a middle school student, becomes friends with Shusuke Hoshino, a top student in his class. During summer vacation, the two go on a trip to Iriomote Island with their other friends. On the trip, Hoshino is exposed to a life-threatening situation and is transformed by a glimpse of death. His friend, Hasumi, becomes the target of his violent bullying, and he begins to express his feelings of frustration on a female artist's fan site.
