It is made by vegetable tanning tightly grained nubuck leather, dyeing it on a hill, adding oil, and then hand-rubbing wax into each piece. The wax is melted and rubbed in, and then a large hand iron is used to thoroughly soak the wax into the leather. This process is repeated 3-4 times to finish. This creates a deep color and a smooth texture. The dyeing uses dyes that penetrate the leather rather than pigments. The hand-rubbed wax gives depth to the color, resulting in a transparent color with soft color unevenness, unlike a uniformly applied color. This leather is enjoyable for its aging process, which deepens its texture with use. It is "brown core" leather, with a brown color at the core of the leather. It is relatively water-resistant, so you can use it without worry on light rainy days. All cutting, hand-sewing, and polishing are done by hand without using machines, making it very durable.
