This is a Nagoya obi from Miyako, a long-established Nishijin weaving house. Unlike items made cheaply with reduced quality, this is a very sturdy and easy-to-tie obi suitable for specialty stores. The base color is black, with colorful "hitada" (small dotted patterns) snow crystals scattered throughout. It can be worn in a wide variety of situations, such as with紬 (tsumugi silk), komon (casual patterned kimono), iromuji (single-colored kimono), and tsukesage (semi-formal kimono).
