For sale is a Kramer Focus 2000 made in Japan. It is believed to be one of the earliest Japanese-made models from the early 80s, and a predecessor to the later JK2000. A notable feature is the Fender-standard joint plate, unlike the slightly slimmer, unique plate marked "Neptune." It's equipped with a German-made FRT-3 bridge. The original price was 100,000 yen, so the build quality is solid. The body is made by ESP, and there's information suggesting the neck was made by Harayama Guitars; indeed, the neck quality is excellent. It has a tight-grained, high-quality quarter-sawn neck! I've owned 80s JK1000s and 6000s, and I'm generally impressed by the necks on those models. Unfortunately, there is scalloping from the 12th fret onwards, but the workmanship is relatively clean. There is a noticeable pressure mark on the 11th fret. As a result, the position marker is missing. The truss rod functions without issue, and the frets have no major indentations. They have about 60-70% life remaining. The body has some discoloration and sticker residue. The pickups are Dimarzio DP151F PAF PRO. The rear pickup was originally pink, but has faded to its current white color. All the controls have been replaced. The POTs are CTS, and the push-push switch functions as a tap and tone control. The jack is Switchcraft. The selector switch had been inexplicably changed to a 2-way switch, so I replaced it with a 3-way switch I had. The tuners have been replaced with GOTOH locking tuners. While there is considerable wear and modifications, this guitar has the specifications of the 80s. It has a non-fine tuner Floyd, so you'll need to get used to tuning it, but if you like guitars from this era, please consider it! Soft case included.
