This is a bent lid rest with a "Unkin" (cloud and gold) design of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, a traditional Japanese motif. Since it is bent, the front is likely the seam, but there are small, accent-like designs on both sides. I feel that having bent items among various tea utensils adds a sense of lightness and a nice touch. Tea utensils tend to be made of pottery or metal, giving them a hard and heavy feel... The craftsman is Bansho Hashimura, a renowned maker of bent wood items. No seal is visible on the lid rest, but I have seen other lid rests of the same type with different patterns, and they also did not have seals. I believe this is how they are made.
