I received this doll from a friend's collection. From the moment I first saw it, I felt a sense of being watched, a distinct impression that it was more than just a decorative item. Even though it's supposed to be smiling, its expression seems to be testing me just a little, making it a mysterious presence. It's said that jesters, in addition to entertaining people, also have the role of sensing and harmonizing the atmosphere and people's emotions. I've heard that this doll doesn't drastically change things, but rather works to "suppress disturbances and ward off unnecessary things." The previous owner kept it on a shelf in their bedroom and said, "Nothing special happens, but unpleasant things tend to happen less." However, they did mention that on one occasion, they put the doll away in a box for a few days. During that time, they felt strangely restless, becoming sensitive to sounds and presences they wouldn't normally notice. When they eventually put it back in its original place, that feeling inexplicably subsided. When I had it myself, I found myself looking at the doll for no particular reason. It wasn't so much a feeling of "being watched," but rather a sense of "being watched over," which left me with a peculiar sense of comfort, different from fear. Since then, I've made it a point to treat this doll with the understanding that it should simply "be left quietly in its place." It's not something for making wishes, but rather a presence that maintains a state of nothing happening. It seems to be smiling, but it continues to watch me.
