This is a pear-skin finish, chocolate-colored choshi-bakama (a type of sake serving vessel). The inside and bottom are black. This is a work of my grandfather and father, who were lacquerware artisans of Tsugaru-nuri. In the past, ceremonies like weddings, wakes, and funerals were held at home. At those times, sake was poured into this vessel and set on the table. As that custom has faded, how about using it as a small item container or a snack container? This one seems to have been used at home. There are some scratches, etc. As it is lacquerware, it has a certain presence and a sense of luxury. The round, plump form is very cute.
