The elegant gray obi fabric features dignified classical patterns. It is a very beautiful item with both華やかさ (hanayaka-sa, splendor) and elegance. The design suggests it is suitable for celebratory occasions and ceremonies, giving it a formal feel. The overall color and impression of the obi are slightly different from the overwhelming presence found in gold-leaf obis worn for formal occasions. It has a refined and gentle impression that is not overly assertive. Also, compared to the heavy appearance of existing formal fukuro obis, the modern design of the part that appears as the otaiko (the back of the obi when tied) makes it suitable for various scenes, from tomesode (formal black kimono) to homongi (visiting kimono) and tsukesage (semi-formal kimono), (this is just my personal opinion). The fabric does not have the luster or suppleness of hikihaku (a type of foil weaving), but it is a good quality genuine silk fabric with a tight weave and sufficient thickness. It has a moderate stiffness that makes it easy to arrange the kimono. The condition is a beautiful item, only lightly tried on. However, due to long-term storage, there are creases from folding and minor wrinkles from trying it on. There may also be other minor imperfections that have been overlooked. Please understand this.
