Fitness balls (kenshinkyu) are traditional Chinese health goods that stimulate the acupressure points in the palm of the hand by rotating them. Their history is long, originating in Baoding, Hebei Province, China during the Ming Dynasty. Originally just iron balls, they now come in various materials and shapes. They are also famous as beautiful crafts, decorated with Chinese traditional cloisonné (enamel). When these are rotated, they make a clear sound like a gamelan. This product is a 40mm cloisonné fitness ball with the traditional auspicious symbols of "dragon and phoenix" as its motif. They are used by rotating two or more balls in the palm of the hand, and are used for purposes such as improving finger dexterity, relaxing the hands, and recovering strength and motor skills after surgery. These were a gift from my father and have been carefully stored on the shelf at my parents' house for a long time. There are no signs of use and they are in beautiful condition.
