I tested it with AA batteries and it didn't play the cassette tape. I can hear operating sounds, so I've confirmed that it's receiving power. This is a used, junk item. There is overall dirt and scratches. Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for something in like-new condition or fully functional, or if you are overly concerned about condition.
