It originally had a price tag of 25,000 yen, and according to the shop owner, it was made during the Meiji to Taisho eras. I don't have much knowledge about it, so I don't know the details, but I think it's very rare now. I remember the purchase price was around 10,000 yen. Each piece is made by a glass artisan, and it has the characteristic wavy appearance of old glass, with some bubbles and what appear to be scratches in places. It's about 3mm thick and very light, making it easy to use. I've listed the height as "7-8cm," but it's slightly slanted, which is quite charming. These kinds of imperfections would be rejected as defects in today's industrialized world, but you can feel the "flavor" and "warmth" of handmade items, and that's what makes them enjoyable to use as everyday tools without getting tired of them. In addition to scratches and bubbles from the manufacturing process, there are also fine scratches that don't show up in the photos, but there are no cracks or chips, and I think it's in very good condition for its age. You could use it for food preparation, but because of the beautiful dark blue edging, I mainly used it as a serving dish in my home. I enjoyed serving salads and somen noodles in it during the summer. I loved it, but I'm selling it as I'm decluttering.
