"Features" Knightia is a genus of extinct bony fish belonging to the family Clupeidae in the order Clupeiformes. It lived in rivers and freshwater lakes in North America and Asia during the Eocene epoch (about 50 million years ago). Knightia is a very famous fish found in the Green River Formation. It is known as the "official" fossil of Wyoming, along with Triceratops. Several species of Knightia have been identified, all of which are thought to have been small, freshwater fish.
