Album Title: Like Someone In Love The Jazz Messengers, led by Art Blakey, left a brilliant legacy in the history of modern jazz. Blakey's keen eye for talent led him to recruit promising young jazz musicians, constantly evolving the group. This album, recorded in 1960 but inexplicably unreleased until later, showcases this evolution. The lineup is the same as on BLP 4049 A Night In Tunisia: Lee Morgan (tp), Wayne Shorter (ts), Bobby Timmons (p), Jymie Merritt (b), and Art Blakey (ds). Despite this impressive roster, the sound has shifted from a hard bop style to something fresher and more avant-garde, reflecting the influence of Shorter as the group's musical director.
