This is a Type 98 overcoat for non-commissioned officers of the Imperial Japanese Army. Some of the gold buttons have slight rust, but the cloth is in good condition, and it is generally a beautiful item. The sword loop has been removed, but this may be because it was used by a sergeant who wore a non-commissioned officer's sword, rather than for post-war use.
