As it is an authentic item, there is a general feeling of use, scuffs, stains and repairs on the ribs, stains on the lining, and traces of patches, but I think it is in relatively good condition for vintage military clothing! (See images) (Supplementary information) This leather flight jacket was worn by pilots of the former West German Air Force from around 1950. This jacket is also known to have been worn by Erich Hartmann, the German Air Force's top ace, who shot down 352 enemy aircraft during the war. The design is striking with its distinctive blue-gray color of the German Air Force's goat skin leather fabric and asymmetrical design. A vertical zip chest pocket is attached to the left front, and a cigar pocket is attached to the left arm. The lining is insignia orange to make it easier to find in the event of a disaster. The hem, sleeves, and collar are ribbed to prevent wind from entering and to increase heat retention. A sports jacket despite being a leather jacket.
