This unique cross filter allows you to freely create light streaks at any angle, from a cross to a straight line. It can be used to create dynamic light effects in video movies. The filter has a structure where two optical glass plates rotate relative to each other. By operating the lever, you can create crosses at any angle. Note that with a standard single-glass cross filter, the light streaks are the same length vertically and horizontally, like a red cross. However, with the Vari-Cross, the two glass plates are not in direct contact and are positioned in front of and behind each other, so the length of the light streaks differs slightly vertically and horizontally, like the Southern Cross constellation.
