This allows sound waves vibrating on the top to reflect across the entire surface without loss, a technology that earned Patent No. 5312880 for its ability to project the top's sound quality directly forward. The guitar is a modified version of a Ryoji Matsuoka M-60, featuring a thick, tight-grained cedar top, rosewood sides with tight grain, a titanium back with carbon on the inside and a Jacaranda-style print on the outside, a custom fingerboard in the style of an electric guitar made of rosewood, and a bridge that has been changed to an original custom design. A pickup has also been installed, although it was not usually used. Furthermore, Matsuda guitars, inspired by the Okinawan sanshin, have a patented feature that enhances sound, achieved by innovations in the bracing structure of the top plate, the bridge structure, and the string attachment method.
