I believe this is in quite beautiful condition for a vintage item. The connection between the coffee cup and the hand has come apart and has been repaired with adhesive, but there are no cracks in the hand or cup. It was working perfectly until recently (the cup went up to about the level of the first photo, or perhaps a little higher), but recently the range of motion for lifting the cup has decreased (internal malfunction?). The range of motion of the hand that lifts the cup has become somewhat narrower, but it still makes the motion of writing a letter with its face and turns its face towards the cup to lift it. Currently, the cup lifts up to the level of photo 19 (the photos I posted were reduced in size for some reason due to insufficient capacity). Previously, it went up near the face. The saucer has come unglued, so it separates from the table (I've also included a photo of the underside of the saucer). Originally, it was glued, so please re-glue it yourself if you wish. (It's easy, just apply adhesive to the position where the cup comes.) The cup is made of ceramic and made a very pleasant "clunk" sound when placed down. It's a little disappointing that the range of motion has decreased now, but it still functions. It seems there's a slight malfunction in the lifting and lowering action. I'm not sure if the light bulb was originally supposed to work, but it doesn't currently. It has a very small light bulb, so perhaps it might work if replaced. The music box is made by REUGE, and the manufacturer of the automaton doll is unknown, but it may be SANKYO, a Japanese company. There are other letter-writing dolls, but the clown ones are quite rare. It was working perfectly until recently, so I think the range of motion can be restored if you take it to a repair shop. The batteries have been replaced with new ones from the ones in the photos.
