This is a Hotei statue. The entire surface is painted black. There are characters on the back, possibly the artist's name, but I can't tell what they say. It looks like it's made of ceramic, but I'm not sure of the material. It is hollow inside. Hotei's expression is gentle, with a relaxed posture.
