This is a 30+ year old aged ink made by Wadayoshi-do in Suzuka for Suishodo in Ebisu, Tokyo. The back of the ink reads "Suishodo Fugen Sei". This ink has an antique feel. Wadayoshi-do (a famous ink shop in Suzuka that has already closed) was an ink-making shop where Wada Jin, a master ink maker, was located. Wada Jin's customers included famous painters such as Gyokudo Kawai, Kokei Kobayashi, Taikan Yokoyama, and Seiho Takeuchi. This ink has a calm, deep black color and a high quality ink color. It is a black-brown oil soot ink for light ink, but I think it is probably rapeseed oil soot ink. It also has an antique feel, so it is good for both kanji and kana. It also produces gradation, so it is good for ink painting. I think it is good for kana that you want to write smoothly, and for kanji ink paintings where you want to express three-dimensionality, depth, and expression.
