Founded in 1980 in Southern California by surfboard shaper Shawn Stussy. The brand began when Stussy made t-shirts for himself and his friends that they wanted to wear. The unique font, known as the "Shawn font," gained attention, and the brand became popular as a surf brand in the 80s, spreading to the music scene and other areas in the 90s.
