The inside is finished with red lacquer, and the outside is carefully crafted to bring out the beautiful grain of the bamboo material. The utaguchi (blowing edge) and finger holes are in good condition, and a black ring is applied to the nakatsugi (joint) to prevent cracking and maintain airtightness. The tone and pitch of a shakuhachi vary depending on the school and dimensions, but this item is made to the standard specifications of the Kinko-ryu school. It is recommended for playing, as well as for a collection of Japanese musical instruments or as interior decoration.
