This is a set of individual plates (meimeizara) of "Zokoku-nuri," a traditional craft of Kagawa Prefecture. The balance of black and red colors and the patterns created by chance are attractive. Technique: A deeply flavorful technique where natural wood is coated with lacquer repeatedly, and then finished by sprinkling with powdered Makomo (a type of aquatic plant) that grows in rivers and ponds. Features: The color and luster deepen with use, and it is highly durable. Size: Approximately 13.5 cm This item has been stored at home for a long time, but I have no memory of using it, so it is almost unused. There are no noticeable stains or scratches, but as seen in photos 13 and 14, there are small unlacquered spots on the bottom of the back.
