I purchased this item used. It is a replica purchased from S&Graf, but I'm not sure if that's true. It was said to be an SS Sergeant shoulder board, but I can't tell the difference between Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS shoulder boards. Since the border is yellow, is it Luftwaffe (Air Force)? The rank is probably Sergeant. I have attached and detached it several times. I don't think there are any major scratches or frays.
