There are shallow and deep types. This bamboo craft is a tradition passed down in the Torigo area of Iwate Prefecture. However, due to the simultaneous flowering of bamboo in recent years, it has become difficult to obtain bamboo from the area (currently, similar materials are being obtained from other areas; the items in this listing use bamboo from Torigo). Furthermore, the number of weavers is decreasing, making these items precious. These baskets are beautiful with the luster of Suzutake bamboo and their woven patterns. However, I have several of them, and I always end up using the same ones, so I am offering these for sale to someone who will use them more often. Due to the nature of the material, there may be some slight splinters.
