SONY 8mm video deck EV-PR1 (as is). After purchasing a refurbished unit from Mercari Shops, I completed dubbing twenty-odd 8mm video tapes. I am relisting it at a reduced price. Due to the "2025 problem," it is said that playback and dubbing will become difficult due to tape degradation and the discontinuation of video deck production. Early dubbing (digitization) is necessary for the videos you want to keep and the video tapes you have stored away. I used this deck to dub (digitize) my cherished 8mm video tapes that I shot a long time ago (over 35 years ago). (Explanation of the "as is" condition) ・Initially, it played back beautifully, but after dubbing about twenty tapes from over 35 years ago, bar noise began to appear in the video. I don't know if it's the tape degradation or the equipment itself. Some tapes play back cleanly, but I can't be certain. ・If you play tapes stored in poor condition, the rotating head and pinch roller will get dirty, causing static-like noise. If this noise appears, it seems the head is dirty. Cleaning the head temporarily resolved the issue. I've included cotton swabs and anhydrous ethanol, but please perform the work at your own risk. ・Regarding the appearance, there are minor scratches from use, but it's in relatively good condition for its age. ・Please understand that this is an old product (made in '93) that is over 30 years old, so there is some risk of malfunction.
