These plates have a beautiful silhouette, characterized by an octagonal base that fits comfortably in the hand. They are finished with beautiful Hon-Shu Urushi vermilion lacquer, and flowers are depicted in black lacquer and gold. They were carefully crafted using traditional techniques and materials identical to those used in the lacquer repair work of the National Treasure and Important Cultural Property Nikko Toshogu Shrine buildings.
