This is a Seto tea caddy, likely from the mid-Edo period. The box is one I matched with it, and is a protective box. There is no shifuku (protective silk pouch). The lid has a small scratch as shown in the image. If the full set of accessories were present, it would likely be worth over 500,000 yen. Although it is understated, it has an elegant and refined appearance. I believe this is a rare item in the present day, when imitations are prevalent.
