Among them, the "Noroma Ningyo" (Clumsy Doll), a type of neck doll, is famous and known as a doll that performs clowning on stage. Around the Keicho Genwa era, Kanbei Noromatsu drifted to Sado from Osaka. He initially made dolls from pine trees, which then became paulownia wood, and eventually evolved into neck dolls with skewers made of clay. This doll is based on four characters: "Kinonosuke" (Honest Man), "Shitano Choja" (Good-natured Man), "Ohana" (Man-lover), and "Busshi" (Greedy Sculptor).
