It consists of two bridges. The current uphill bridge opened in May 1987 with a temporary two lanes, and the current downhill bridge opened in April 1998 [3]. The weekday traffic volume is 12,332 vehicles/day [4]. The Konaruto Bridge (opened July 1961), a suspension bridge, runs parallel to the west with a distance of about 50m, allowing one to see the progress of civil engineering technology over a quarter of a century. Nearby, there is the Naruto Boat Race Course and an Otsuka Pharmaceutical warehouse with giant advertisements for Pocari Sweat and other products painted on the walls, which can be seen from the bridge. Also, there is the Naruto Second Tunnel at the north end of the bridge and the Muyō Bus Stop at the south end. Other bridges on the same expressway that span straits include the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and the Ōnaruto Bridge.
