Overall, I don't think the condition is bad, with no noticeable scratches that would lead to breaks. It's a pretty powerful rod. There is some shine on the standard EVA grip. I bought it used, but it was a sub-rod, so I've only used it twice. I landed a 1.7kg squid without any problems, easily reeling it in.
