The name comes from the long, extended neck of the club, resembling the neck of a snapping turtle (suppon in Japanese). The theory is that the snapping turtle-like neck shape increases the club's center-of-gravity distance, leading to faster head speed and longer distances. Although it's an old set, the condition is good for irons.
