"Seson Myoso Gu" (The World-Honored One is endowed with wonderful features) is a phrase that appears at the beginning of the "Kan'on-kyo (The Universal Gate Chapter of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva)" of the Lotus Sutra, meaning "The World-Honored One (Shakyamuni Buddha) possesses a beautiful and venerable appearance." Following this phrase, "Ga Kon Jūmon Pi" (I now ask him again) leads to the question of Mujin'i Bosatsu (Akshayamati Bodhisattva) asking Shakyamuni Buddha, "Why is Avalokiteshvara called Avalokiteshvara?", and marks the beginning of the latter half of the sutra (Seson Ge - The Verse of the World-Honored One).
