The kora is a stringed instrument that has been made as a folk instrument in West Africa for 300 years. The item for sale is a miniature version of a functional instrument, intended for decorative use, and has fewer strings. I purchased it 41 years ago at a flea market in Paris from a person from Senegal. The construction is exactly the same as a real instrument, with dried, sliced gourd covered with goat skin and decorated with cowrie shells. There are no missing parts other than two missing shells. I think it is in good condition for a vintage item. The size is approximately 55 x 23 x 15 cm.
