Even at the top level of soccer, it's astonishing how different it is now compared to around 1974, 50 years ago. These two books seem to meticulously describe the training, psychology, and movements of superstars in games from about 50 years ago, albeit in an analog way. Back then, terms like "modern soccer" and "total football" emerged, marking a departure from previous soccer styles, perhaps even the starting point of what we see today. I'm thinking of organizing my Showa-era bookshelf soon. If you're interested in the history of soccer tactics and training, how about taking these? I hate to discard them, and I'd be happy if someone would take them over. Not many people might recognize the name "Weisweiler" anymore.
