This was purchased about 20 years ago in Heilongjiang Province, China. "Yimianpo Town, Shangzhi City," located southeast of the provincial capital Harbin, is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Matryoshka Dolls." It flourished as an important railway station town on the Chinese Eastern Railway, which opened at the end of the 19th century. Many Russians migrated there, and the matryoshka doll culture took root. This is not an imitation, but a regional craft unique to Heilongjiang Province, which is geographically close to Russia.
