It was originally oil-coated in the traditional way, and had a strong smell and stickiness when purchased. With use, the oil has mostly worn off and the smell has largely disappeared. Perhaps because it hasn't been re-oiled since purchase, some damage has started to appear. A dedicated pile liner is also included. This liner was purchased later and is in good condition. It attaches with snaps and is the same size as the jacket. Finally, as a note of caution, there is considerable damage in addition to the areas shown in the photos.
