Normally, the wood is cut lengthwise, but I mistakenly cut it crosswise during the initial cut. Because it's a crosscut, the wood's grain is clearly visible, and the figure is also a bit different. There is a crack on the pen tip side, which has been repaired, leaving a linear mark, but there is no problem with practical strength. The bright yellow color, similar to South American Amarelo wood, gives it a unique atmosphere not found in other tree species. Mobingi is a legume hardwood tree that mainly grows in West Africa. It is also famous for its beautiful figure. Due to its crossed grain, planing is very difficult, but the finish as a single board is considered good. In the case of wood with remaining moisture, such as immediately after felling, it may stain cloth yellow. It is a tree species that takes time to dry.
