This is a conjoined fossil of a Venus clam (likely from the family Veneridae) from Okura, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. I've added a question mark because the shell thickness seems thin, possibly due to individual variation. The shell surface is weathered and damaged. It has been fixed with adhesive to prevent it from opening. The shell has been coated with Paraloid protective coating. The length is approximately 65mm. Please check the images for the condition. Scientific Name: Mercenaria stimpsoni Age: Quaternary Period, Pleistocene Epoch
