Akira Tanaka was active in the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) and received the Tokusen (Special Selection) award twice. 【Chronology】 1929: Born in Himi City, Toyama Prefecture. 1950: Graduated from the Sculpture Department of Kanazawa College of Art, studied under Naohisa Unemura. 1949: First selection for the Nitten. 1965 & 1966: Received the Tokusen award consecutively. 1982: Received the Member's Award. 1987: Received the Prime Minister's Award. Created excellent female figures that express the casual poses of young women with economical modeling. Nitten Councilor. Japan Sculpture Exhibition Executive Committee Member.
