This is a piece I recently acquired at auction, a work by a popular Akama Suzuri (inkstone) artist. I can no longer contact her, but a Chinese customer who had purchased several of my items and runs her own shop contacted me. She said she receives many orders for Akama Suzuri and wanted as many as I had. At the time, I only had a few, and I think I could only provide her with two. This experience made me realize how popular Akama Suzuri are. This particular piece has no carvings and features a simple noment-shiage (natural surface) finish. However, the stone is excellent, and I believe it's a fine work by an artist, possessing the good qualities of Akama Suzuri. I will be listing it at this price. What do you think?
