This is a full-size violin chin rest. I purchased it, made of ebony, for its good resonance. It touches the tailpiece, so I had a luthier shave a little off the unseen part. I feel it's slightly lighter and the sound is better than the original (this is just my personal impression). It has been shaved, but it's in an unseen area. The metal has a certain used feel, but there are no particular scratches, so I've marked it as having no noticeable stains. Overall, there are no stains or scratches of particular concern.
