I listen to music by importing it onto my computer, so I no longer use a CD player and will give this away. All CDs were purchased new from CD stores. I check the disc surfaces by reflecting the light from a desk lamp. The 10 CDs have no small scratches on the disc surfaces and are as clean as new, even to the edges. I handle the discs carefully when inserting and removing them, as I don't want to scratch them, and many CDs were only used for importing onto my computer.
