I am selling a set of five vintage Chinese special stamps featuring "Palace Lanterns." Symbol: T.60 Issue Date: February 19, 1981 Issuing Authority: Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China Palace lanterns are traditional Chinese craft lanterns. They are made with bamboo, wood, or copper frames, covered with silk or glass, and decorated with landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, and auspicious patterns. They serve both lighting and decorative purposes, are used indoors and outdoors, and come in various shapes. The China Post Office issued these special stamps on February 19, 1981, to coincide with the Lantern Festival. Stamp 1 (top left) is titled "Flower Basket Lantern." The flower basket lantern depicted on the stamp has a rosewood frame with glass panels inlaid with floral patterns, and is extremely elaborate. The design of the palace lantern is reminiscent of a finely crafted flower basket. Stamp 2 (top center) is titled "Dragon Ball Lantern." The dragon ball lantern depicted on the stamp has a rosewood frame with glass panels inlaid with images of dancing fairies, showcasing extremely exquisite craftsmanship. The body of the palace lantern is spherical, and the neck has carvings of dragon heads protruding in four directions. Stamp 3 (top right) is titled "Dragon and Phoenix Lantern." The dragon and phoenix lantern depicted on the stamp has a rosewood frame with glass panels inlaid with landscape paintings, exuding a poetic charm. Stamp 4 (bottom left) is titled "Treasure Basin Lantern." The treasure basin lantern depicted on the stamp has a rosewood frame with glass panels inlaid with landscape paintings, giving a fresh impression. The palace lantern is wider at the top and tapers towards the bottom, resembling an open treasure basin. Stamp 5 (bottom right) is titled "Flower and Bird Lantern." The flower and bird lantern depicted on the stamp has glass panels with flower and bird paintings such as "Magpies on Plum Blossoms" and "Pine and Crane," which are brilliant and gorgeous, while also possessing a dignified and calm atmosphere. These are actually used, vintage items from that time. They are in generally good condition for used items from that era. Please check the images for details. No returns or exchanges (NCNR). Shipping costs will be covered by the seller.
