A Japanese film released on December 8, 2007. It was made based on a true story. The film was based on the book "Mali and the Three Puppies of Yamakoshi Village," published by Bungeishunju in February 2005. Shinji Kuwabara, the chairman of the NPO "Nagaoka Life Information Exchange Net" in Nagaoka City, heard the story of Mali, a real dog in Yamakoshi Village, and her puppies during the Niigata-Chuetsu Earthquake from Mali's owner, and proposed publishing it as a picture book.
